EN TEA

About

EN TEA was born in 2017, inspired by an exhibition at the Guimet Museum in Paris that “completely changed the image of Japanese tea” for French audiences.

Founded by Maruwaka Hirotoshi, a curator known for reimagining traditional Japanese crafts through a contemporary lens, EN TEA seeks to share the overlooked diversity of Japanese tea with the world.

Japanese Mindfulness

At the heart of EN TEA is tea making rooted in the concept of “Japanese beauty as Japanese mindfulness.”

Tea, for EN TEA, is not only about individual richness but about the essential richness that comes from harmony with others. This philosophy shapes how they approach each tea crafting flavours that suit each moment whilst accepting that things change.

Facing tea with sincerity every day and discovering new possibilities is the greatest joy for EN TEA’s makers.

Tea Farm Friends Connected by Memory

EN TEA’s journey began in the rural mountains of Kyushu, on the border between Saga and Nagasaki prefectures. This area, once called Hizen Province, is considered one of the first regions in Japan to produce green tea.

Rather than being bound by single farms, EN TEA works with tea farmers who share the same passion and interact carefully with nature and tea leaves. They cherish local climate and traditional tea-making methods, learning to “embrace nature whilst generously pouring in human effort and wisdom to produce tea leaves.”

The result is tea that transcends individual regions and connects to the future

Approach to the Ideal Taste

Many believe that “good tea leaves equal delicious tea,” but EN TEA understands that truly delicious tea requires three elements: ingredients, tools, and technique.

They devote as much effort and time as possible to perfecting these three elements, aiming to provide tea that satisfies drinkers in any situation.

Tea Leaves and Wildflowers

EN TEA values delivering tea leaves that reflect the blessings of both human hands and nature, working with farmers who are rethinking conventional cultivation methods to meet the expectations of those who drink their tea.

Tea You Can Enjoy Anywhere

To make exceptional Japanese tea accessible to everyone, EN TEA developed tea leaf blends specifically designed for brewing in tea bags made from Tealode®️ Soilon®️. A renewable, plant-based material that is safe, secure, and has excellent brewing properties.

The result is tea that honours tradition whilst making it accessible to everyone, everywhere.
