Origin & Producer

Producer: Tongxinshe Teahouse

A respected Chinese teahouse working directly with master tea makers across the country's classical tea regions. Each release is sourced from a named production area and crafted following traditional methods.

Origin:

Fuzhou, Fujian, China

Base tea: Silver needle single-bud leaves

Scenting: Fresh Fuzhou jasmine, multiple rounds

Tea type: Traditional Chinese jasmine tea

Harvest

2026 Spring Harvest

The silver needle base for this release was picked in spring 2026, when the buds are at their fullest. The jasmine scenting was carried out during the Fuzhou jasmine bloom season immediately following the tea harvest, with each round using fresh blossoms picked at the peak of their flowering.

PROCESSING

The silver needle base is produced separately and then scented with fresh jasmine blossoms across multiple rounds. In each round, the tea is layered with newly picked jasmine flowers at the peak of their bloom and left for the leaves to absorb the volatile aromatics of the flowers. The exhausted blossoms are removed at the end of each round and the process is repeated. No flowers remain in the finished tea.

Cultivars

The base tea is made from single-bud silver needle leaves, picked when the buds are covered in fine white pekoe. The scenting flowers are fresh Fuzhou jasmine, the recognised cultivar of the city and the traditional flower used in authentic Chinese jasmine tea.

Tasting notes

Color & Texture:

Pale, clear liquor with a luminous quality. Smooth and delicate on the palate

Flavor Profile:

Fresh, pure jasmine fragrance with the natural sweetness of the silver needle base. The character of the flowers and the character of the tea are fully integrated rather than sitting separately. No bitterness, no perfumed quality, no aftertaste of dried flower

Character:

Bright, elegant, integrated. A jasmine tea where the floral and the tea components are inseparable in the cup

Brewing instructions

Glass or porcelain method (recommended)

  1. Tea: 5 g (one full sachet) in a 200 to 250 ml glass or porcelain cup
  2. Water: heated to 85 to 90°C. Do not use boiling water, which will compromise the delicate floral character
  3. Pour the water gently over the leaves and allow them to unfurl naturally
  4. First infusion: 1 to 2 minutes. The leaves can be re-steeped 2 to 3 times, adding 30 seconds to each subsequent infusion

Water:

Spring water or purified water is recommended. Water temperature is critical. Boiling water destroys the volatile floral aromatics that define the tea.

Use & storage

Use: Suitable for daytime drinking, afternoon service, refined table presentation. Pairs well with light desserts and pastry

Storage:

Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, strong aromas and humidity. Jasmine tea is particularly sensitive to ambient aromas and must be stored carefully to preserve its character.

Best enjoyed within twelve months of harvest while the floral aromatics are at their freshest.
